One of the choppers crashed landed and was out of service. The SEALs broke into the compound, not knowing the layout of the buildings, firing and taking fire, going from room to room in the dark. Bin Laden, who had escaped American forces 10 years before in the invasion of Afghanistan, was hit three times, including once above an eye.
Despite losing a chopper, the team was back in the air 38 minutes after it arrived at its target. There were no American casualties. After some time and thought he saw it differently. He decided that with a little help, the people he had fought with during his career had a lot to offer. The Esquire article followed less than six months later, in the March issue. The first SEAL in the stack, the point man, sees a tall man stick his head out of the bedroom door on the third floor. He fires at least one shot. At a debrief in Afghanistan, however, he says he took two shots and might have hit bin Laden once.
Later, more SEALs show up. He is not, however, being investigated by the Pentagon. The leadership created that double standard. The film was released in February and capitalized on the bin Laden raid publicity. And not one of those names did it for political gain or Hollywood.
